Why I Rebranded: An Honest Confession

Let’s talk real talk about rebranding. It’s no walk in the park, but man, it’s gotta be done. As I got into it, I realized it’s not just about slapping on a new logo or switching up some colors. It’s about digging deep and finding out what Maevi is all about. It’s about making it truly reflect who I am, what I stand for, and who I’m becoming.

In this blog, I’m pulling back the curtain to spill the beans on what went into this new brand, why it happened, who was involved, and how the magic went down. Whether you’re creating your first brand or thinking it’s time for a refresh, I hope this story helps you think about your own brand and whether it’s due for a little refresh too. Let’s dive into it!

Why I Rebranded: An Honest Confession

So, here’s the deal: I fell out of love with my brand. Yep, it happened. Slowly at first. You know how it goes—it started with me thinking, “Okay, I’m just a bit off my game.” But then that small feeling grew into something bigger, something that whispered, “I don’t know what I’m doing anymore.”

Suddenly, my brand, which I’d built with so much love and passion, didn’t feel like mine. I lost my vision. I lost my motivation. That spark that used to get me out of bed in the morning, excited to work? Gone.

I found myself asking the big questions:
Should I keep going?
Should I give up completely?

And the worst part? I was going through the motions, doing what I had to do but without any real passion behind it. My brand felt lifeless, and that’s a tough pill to swallow when it’s something you’ve poured your heart and soul into.

The Big Bold Move: Quitting My Highest-Paying Client

As if things couldn’t get more complicated, I did something bold (or, let’s be real, crazy):

I quit my highest-paying client.

Yup. Bold move, especially considering I had just bought a house, had two dogs to take care of, and—like the rest of us—a stack of bills that didn’t seem to care about my “creative crisis.”
So why did I quit?
Honestly, I couldn’t carry the weight anymore. My mind was drained, my creativity was on empty, and every task felt like climbing a mountain with a 50-pound backpack. It wasn’t fair to me, and it wasn’t fair to them. So, I took the leap, unsure of what would come next.

The Half-Year Hiatus: Trying to Find My Spark Again

I decided to take a break.
I told myself, “Just step back for a little while and figure it out.”
Well, that “little while” turned into a half-year hiatus.

There was a moment where I sat there—tears streaming down my face—because this wasn’t me. I’m the girl with a plan, with direction. And here I was, completely lost. I didn’t have a clue what my next step was. It felt like my entire world was crumbling.

I’d never been so unsure of myself or my path before.

I spent months trying to find my spark again. Scrolling through social media, looking for inspiration, waiting for something—anything—to ignite that creative fire I used to feel. But nothing came. I was still lost. Still doubting myself. And the worst part? I started noticing my brand… everywhere.

Same colors. Same fonts. Same templates.
My branding, once something I was proud of, had become just like everyone else’s. It wasn’t standing out anymore, and I felt like I wasn’t either.

When the Universe Sends You Signs…

Then, something weird happened.
Out of nowhere, little signs started showing up.

My work got featured in places I never expected. Designers I admired started messaging me, asking about my process, my style, and what I was working on. It was like the universe was nudging me, saying, “Hey, maybe it’s time to get back in the game.”

But here’s the thing—I didn’t just want to come back.
I wanted to come back better, stronger, and with a brand that actually felt like me again. I wasn’t the same person I was when I first started Maevi Studio, and my brand needed to reflect that growth.

A Brand Aligned with Purpose

So, I decided to do what I had been avoiding for months: rebrand.
Not just a little tweak here and there, but a full-on glow-up.

This rebrand isn’t just about a new logo or updated colors—it’s about aligning my passion with purpose. It’s about creating a space that feels vibrant, alive, and 100% authentic to who I am now, after everything I’ve been through. I wanted Maevi Studio to evolve, just like I have.

And let me tell you, it’s been a journey of overthinking, self-doubt, and plenty of “is this good enough?” moments. But in the end, I pushed through all of that and created something that feels real, something I’m proud of.

The Vision Beyond the Rebrand: A Bright New Chapter

When I set out on this rebranding journey, I knew I wanted something that felt bold, bright, and full of life. I wanted it to be an explosion of color and energy that could light up any room. But I also wanted it to capture the essence of the shifts I’ve experienced over the years…

This rebrand is more than just a makeover; it’s a reflection of where I am now and where I’m headed. It’s about embracing the joy in life, loving my work, and showing up authentically in every aspect of my business. That’s why it’s crucial to evaluate your core values, understand who you’re speaking to, and figure out what problem your brand is solving before you even think about the visual stuff.

For me, my niche has narrowed to D2C, Gen Z, and Millennial brands—because that’s where I see the most passion, innovation, and excitement. And that’s where I want to be, right alongside them, creating brands that don’t just look good but FEEL good, too.

My Advice for YOUR Brand

Thinking about a rebrand? Here’s my advice: ask yourself if it’s a “nice to have” or a “need to have.” If it’s the latter, dive in headfirst. But remember, you don’t need a polished brand to be successful. I ran my business for a decade without a formal brand, and it worked fine.

But if you feel like your brand no longer represents who you are or where you’re headed, it might be time for a change. Start by reviewing what you have—what you love, what you’re ready to leave behind, and what values drive you. Get clear on your mission statement and the inspiration that fuels your brand.

Rebranding is an investment, but for me, it’s been worth every moment. It’s brought new energy, passion, and clarity to my business. And it’s a celebration of all the growth and evolution along the way.

The New Era of Maevi Studio

So here we are—at the start of a new era.

Maevi Studio has evolved, and so have I. It’s not about perfection (because, let’s be honest, that’s overrated). It’s about pushing through, staying true to who I am, and creating something that feels real, even if it’s not perfect.

This new chapter of Maevi Studio is about embracing the messy middle, the ups and downs, and finding beauty in the process. I’m excited for what’s to come, and I can’t wait to share it with you all.

Thanks for sticking with me through this crazy ride.

Here’s to what’s next! ✨

I’m so excited to share that this rebrand was a labor of love from start to finish, and I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve created. It’s uniquely, undeniably Maevi, and I can’t wait for you to experience it in all its vibrant, colorful glory. To see the new brand in action, hop over to my main website or any of my social media platforms. Here’s to new beginnings and a bright future ahead!
